Factory Production Planning Manager
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee daily operations of the Factory from Production and Manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. Develop processes that will maximise responsible planning and management of resources, safety, quality and productivity.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

●         Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operations of the factory

●         Plan, organise, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to excess customer expectations

●         Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment

●         Increase production, assets capacity, utilisation and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards

●         Develop, execute and manage the Factory manufacturing, training, health and safety and Maintenance budgets

●         Be responsible for production output, product quality according to SANS standards applying Lean methodologies, and ensuring on-time despatch from the Factory

●         Remove production constraints, allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals

●         Allocate resources effectively and fully utilise assets to produce optimal results

●         Remove waste and all other constraints from the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity

●         Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus

●         Communicate with Research and development and drive the development of new product strategies

●         Monitor all operations and implement corrective actions

●         Communicate and build relationships with various external entities, such as supplies of Raw materials, Maintenance equipment, new machine acquisitions etc…

●         Share a trusting relationship with work group and recruit, manage, motivate and develop by staff, by identifying training needs and team building leadership activities on and off site.

●         Monitor all staff performances and rectify shortcomings

●         Collect and analyse data to find areas of waste or overtime elimination

●         Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity, performance standards and targets to ensure effective return on assets

●         Address employee issues or grievances and ensure swift conclusion thereof

●         Stay up to date with the latest production management best practices and concepts

●         Commit and ensure to strict adherence to the Health and safety act

●         Ensure the safety of staff, building and equipment

●         Build and maintain a strong relationship with Local and International Sales managers, by understanding the market demands and ensuring the Factory is producing the correct product range for seasonal demands.

 

●         I have 5 Department Managers, (DIRECT REPORTEES) 6 foreman, 9 Technical Millwrights and Electricians and over 670 factory employees in my team, (INDIRECT REPORTEES).

●         Departments include Plastic Extrusion, Knitting, Quality Control, Inspection, Recycle, Maintenance and Warehouse

Key Responsibilities:

 

Primary Department and Planning Manager –

●         Promoted to this position which is a new position designed due to the pressure and increasing business.

●         I oversee the Primary Production process (Knitting, Extrusion and unofficially Inspection)

●         In charge of the planning process of 63 machines producing over 300 Tons of material a month.

●         I have 4 managers, 5 foreman, 1 junior foreman and over 600 staff reporting to me.

●         Liaise with the sales team, customers, report to the Factory manager and Managing Director

●         Develop, execute and manage the Factory manufacturing training, health and safety and Maintenance budgets.

●         Responsible for the production output, production quality according to SANS standards, applying lean mythologies, and ensuring on-time despatch from the factory.

●         Remove waste and all other constrains form the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity.

●         Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.

●         Assist in setting up 5-year plans for the growth of the company and ensure enough machinery, manpower and resources are available for these growth predictions.

●         All Production, Planning, scheduling, forecasts and delivery times and dates also form part of my portfolio.

Knitting Production Manager –

●         Responsible for output, quality, health and safety, housekeeping

●         Budgets

●         Production targets are met

●         Customers and sales reps receive their products at expected delivery times.

●         Handled all labour relations, including union negotiations.

●         Ensure all maintenance is done and recorded, hiring of new employees, budgets and forecasts of large textile factory manufacturing shade net, ensuring continuous production of 52 Raschel Knitting machines.

●         260 labourers working a 3-shift system

●         Quality control.

●         Ensuring that all standards are kept to within SABS standards.
